Spiritual Direction

About Spiritual Direction

Spiritual direction is a ministry of spiritual support and compassionate listening, separate and distinct from other forms of counseling such as pastoral counseling, psychotherapy, or analysis. Spiritual direction is also a spiritual vocation, and directors should complete an established training program for spiritual direction, be in direction themselves, and adhere to a code of ethics that includes offering directees confidentiality and a safe place in which to speak honestly about their spiritual lives.
