Contemplative Poetry

Poetry is a way of looking at life through a different facet of the diamond of existence. As Emily Dickenson said, “Tell the truth but tell it slant.” Join us to explore the world of poetry to see how it intersects with reality and communicates to our hearts and souls with unique purpose and meaning in deeper ways than direct communication. As Mary Oliver wrote, “…the poem wants to flower, like a flower. It knows that much. It wants to open itself, like the door of a little temple, so that you might step inside and be cooled and refreshed…”
Rev. Lee Self is a spiritual formation leader, retreat leader, spiritual director, wife, and mom. Lee holds a MDiv in Pastoral Counseling and Care and is ordained through the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She has served as an associate pastor, chaplain, and pastoral counselor in several places in the North Texas area, and she is one of our co-founders of Spiritual Ministries Institute. Lee loves playing video games, reading, watching movies and plays, eating chocolate, yoga, and napping.
