Walk Slowly, and Bow Often: Ecospirituality as a Contemplative Path

The sacredness of nature fills our beings like nothing else. Join us on the beautiful grounds of Springhill Retreat Center as we practice Mary Oliver’s poem, “When I am Among the Trees” in real time. Dr. Thiele will lead us in learning divine truths of contemplative living from the nature beings all around us, tapping into the feeling of oneness with all beings in the natural world and letting go of the illusions of separation from God and from one another.
William Thiele, PhD is a pastoral psychotherapist, spiritual director, and retreat leader. He is the author of The Gate of Heaven is Everywhere, Monks in the World: Seeking God in a Frantic Culture. For 16 years he served as founding director of the School for Contemplative Living before retiring in April 2025. Episodes of his podcast A Contemplative Path can be found on Apple Podcasts.
